Mission: To support economic development
efforts in the region for the retention and creation of jobs
by assisting small businesses on how to do business with the
public sector.
Eligibility: VPTAC services are available
to existing small businesses located in the counties of Brooks,
Cameron, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Starr, Webb, Willacy, and
Zapata. To be considered for program services

Cost: Counseling and program services
are provided at no cost.

in identifying Federal North American Industry Classification
System (NAICS)
as well as state and local commodity codes

in accessing solicitations, references, specifications,
and drawings from federal buying offices

market research to identify government agencies or prime

*Important
note: According to recent legislation, small businesses
no longer need to be owned by U.S. citizens in order to apply
for HUBZone certification. Another change permits a rural
county to qualify for HUBZone status if its local unemployment
rate is relatively high when compared to either the state's
annualized unemployment rate or the national unemployment rate.
