Tuition

The Basic Peace Officer Certification academy is divided into four (4) Reserve Officer segments.  All students must successfully complete all four sections of the academy in order to graduate and take the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Peace Officer licensing exam. Tuition must be paid in full by the first day of the academy class. Tuition reenversement will not be available after the first academy class day.

Required Equipment

The following equipment is required from each student:

* Texas Criminal and Traffic Law Manual-2007 - 2009 Revised Edition (Lexis Publishing)

* Texas Basic Peace Officer's Course CD Rom- (Texas Law Enforcement Training Center)

* Elements of a Crime manual- (Council for Law Education and Research)

* Duty Belt with holster, double magazine pouch, flashlight holder, handcuff case, and 4 belt keepers

* Handgun - semiautomatic, traditional double-action or double-action only, .45, 9mm, or .40 calibers - 3 magazines

* Ammunition-  Minimum 300 rounds for handgun
                            Minimum two 5-round packs of 12 ga. 00 buckshot
                            Minimum of one 5-pack of 12 ga. 1 oz. rifled slugs

* Flashlight (C or D cell)

* Whistle

* 3-ring notebook

* Scantron answer sheets- Form 882-E (6 packs)

* Prescribed uniforms
