What is APSI:
This five-day comprehensive training institute provides high school and middle school teachers of Advanced Placement* and Pre-AP* courses with information on the latest curriculum topics facing education, teaching techniques and what resources are available for teachers to succeed in their position. New and experienced teachers are encouraged to attend the institute. The classes will be taught by an enthusiastic and dedicated group of experienced advance placement consultants from throughout the region.
Attendance Requirements
Participants must attend the entire Institute in order to be certified to teach AP or Pre-AP classes.
Clothing & Climate
Dress for sessions is casual and comfortable. Because summer days in Brownsville are hot and humid, light clothing is essential. Classrooms are air conditioned, and some can become quite cold, so pack a sweater or light jacket.
Travel
Fly in to Harlingen's Valley International Airport or Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport.
Meals
Continental breakfast and light snack for afternoon break will be provided by UTB/TSC. Light lunch will be provided. Must specify upon registering.
Course Cancellations
Every effort is made to maintain course offerings. However, events such as instructor illness, inclement weather or insufficient enrollment may require a schedule adjustment or cancellation. We will notify participants of any changes in the published information.
Refund and transfer policy
Refund requests for cancellations must be made in writing prior to the Friday, May 9 registration deadline. A $25 processing fee will be deducted from all refunds. No refunds will be made after the registration deadline; however, a registration may be transferred to another individual from the same school or school district up to two weeks prior to the beginning of the institute. A $50 processing fee will be charged for each registration transfer made after the registration deadline.
Tuition & Deadlines:
Early Registration Deadline is Friday May 9, 2008. Tuition before May 9th is $ 475.00. Tuition after May 9th is $ 525.00. NOTE: a $50.00 late fee will be assessed to all registrations received after May 9, 2007.
